LIGHTING UNITS AND EQUATIONS
The lighting technique covers the calculation methods necessary to provide an economical and quality lighting in a system.
The following method is generally used in a lighting calculation.
The average luminous intensity of the area to be illuminated, the calculation method and equations in accordance with the purpose of illumination are given in the tables below.
EQUATIONS
EQUATION | SYMBOL | EXPLANATION |
Z | Number of bulbs | |
WEED | Required total luminous flux (lm)
Ø L | Luminous flux given by a bulb (lm.)
k | Zone index (depending on site dimensions)
a | Length (m) | |
b | Width (m) | |
h | Height of light source to working plane (m)
H | Height of light source from ground (m)
H1 | Height of working plane from floor
TO | The required illuminance level (LUX) is selected from the table
A | Area of the area to be illuminated (m 2 )
D | The contamination factor of the facility (selected from the Table)
![]() | The light reflection efficiency of the facility. Ceiling limiting the lighting area is selected from the table depending on the reflection factors of the wall and floor, the zone index and the selected luminaire type. |
